Does Hong Kong count as third country for transit visa?

I am travelling from London to Shanghai arriving Sunday. Then leaving Shanghai on Tuesday for Hong Kong. Then leaving Hong Kong on Wednesday for the uk. Can I apply for the 72 hour transit visa? Thanks. Dave.

Dave, when speaking of the 72 hour free transit policy, HK is regarded as a third region, so you can make use of the 72 hour free transit in Shanghai if you travel like that.
