About:Chinese Consulate in Brisbane

Shanghai visa enquiry

We are going on celebrity millinium sailing from Hong Kong on 14th January 2017 finish our cruise in Shanghai on 26 th January. We will be staying overnight in a hotel in Shanghai and then flying to Singapore the next day. Are we considered to be in transit as we are are are not leaving Shanghai city. Do we require a visa under these conditions. Could you please let me know as I don't seem to be able a definitive answer. Many thanks Fredrick Dyer.

Fredrick, it will be considered as a transit because you will fly to Singapore after staying in Shanghai. You can enjoy the direct transit in Shanghai, so no entry permit is needed.
