About:Beijing Transportation

I am arriving in Beijing at the end of January.

And am looking to travel from there to Kathmandu, Nepal around the beginning of February. I'd ideally like to travel through Tibet.
Could you please advise me on the options available for travel and the best routes of travel?
Many thanks, Jossie

First of all, you may fly to Lhasa from Capital Airport (about 4.5 to 6.5 hours). Then, there are three modes of transport for you.

1. Take a direct bus to Kathmandu. The bus departs on Friday, and there is an extra on Tuesday during peak seasons. The trip takes 2.5 days, and the fare is CNY 580.

2. Charter a car to Zhangmu Port for about CNY 400 (about 15 hours). Stay at Zhangmu, and cross the border on the next day. Then, take a local bus to Kathmandu.

3. Take a bus to Shigatse from Lhasa for CNY 50 (about 4 hours), and spend one night at Shigatse. On the second day, take a bus to Zhangmu for CNY 185 (about 15 hours), and spend another night at Zhangmu. On the third day, cross the border, and take a local bus to Kathmandu.

You can choose the way you like!
