About:Directions for Use of Shanghai Public Transportation Card

Can I use a credit card to purchase a Shanghai Transport Card or does it need to be cash?

Yes, you can buy it by using credit card. You need to pay CNY 20 as the deposit, and add some value to it. Just to be sure, you'd better to prepare some cash also.
