About:China Visa Application in USA

Travelling on China Eastern from Chicago to Seoul with a stop in Shanghai and Qingdao. Visa needed?

The stop in Shanghai is 3 hours, the stop in Qingdao is 9 hours. We will stay in the airport. The return is 19 days later with a 3 hour stop in Shanghai. Does the 72 hour free transit apply here? (one traveler is from Kentucky and one is from Indiana) Thank you, Valerie

Valerie, the 72 hour free transit cannot cover your trip because you will stop in two Chinese cities but the 72 hour policy stipulates that one is only allowed to transit in one Chinese city. But because your total layover time in PRC is less than 24 hours, you can enjoy the 24 hour direct transit in PRC. When you return, you are eligible for the 24 hour direct transit, too.
