Hi I am a uk citizen and in Zurich for the next 3 months as part of the Kickstart Accelerator (Digital Zurich 2025) Program. I need to travel to Shanghai next week on Thursday 1st September for an industry event we are organising. Would it be possible for me to get a tourist L type to do this? If so how quickly can I do this? Any help will be very much appreciated. I know embassy is only open on weekdays, but is there any way to gain some advice before Monday so I can get appropriate documents in place?

You can apply for an M type to attend the industry event. You need to prepare these materials: your passport and copy of its data page, the application form attached with a passport-style photo, and an invitation letter from the industry event as well as your valid entry permit for Switzerland. You can apply for it by choosing the rush service. In this case, you can get it in time to attend the event.

Hi the event is something that I am also helping to organise. In this case can one of the event co-organisers in China provide the invitation?Also, as a UK citizen I haven't got a permit as I was said I didn't need one for Switzerland. Would would be the requirements for this scenario?Thank you again for your quick response.Avtar

Avtar, if so, you can just apply for a tourist L type to do that and then the invitation letter is not needed. As for Switzerland entry permit, you can provide the entry record for Switzerland.
