extend/renew m visa

Question

Hi, I have 1 entry 90 days business entry permit (M) but i need to stay longer in China. Chinese friends told me that it's easier to renew my M type than to extend it, I just need to leave china and then come back. So if the last day of my current M type is 12th Oct is it ok if i travel to HK before that day and come back after 12th? I've heard that i can renew it also in HK, how long does the procedure take? Thanks for any help, I'm just getting lot of confusing information regarding this

Zuzana, you can go to HK and re-apply for a new business M type. It takes 4 working days to process your application after you submit it. But as far as I know, if you don’t have HK entry permit, it’s not easy to get it from there. You are advised to try to apply for an extension at the exit and entry administration of the local PSB. If it can be extended, you don’t need to exit. If it cannot be done, you can go to HK for a try!

Thanks Ian,I think I'll go to HK to give it a try. I've heard that there is usually no problem if you apply for tourist visa there, so I hope that it will be the same also with business visa. Just a last question, as the last day of my visa is 12th Oct, I was told that I have to travel to HK exactly on this date, means exactly after 90 days of my stay. Is it true? Isn't it possible to leave also let's say 10th, arrange new visa in HK and after 4 days come back to china?Many thanks

Dear, you don’t have to leave exactly on 12th. Of course, you can leave on 10th and then go to HK to re-apply for an M type.

Great, thanks!! I thought it's like this, but Chinese students around (who are supposed to help me with this) were trying to convince me that it's possible to leave only on this concrete date.... So I have to double-check everything they tell me =D They seem to be more confused than me.Thanks for your help!
