About:Chinese Consulate in Chicago

As Ecuadorian passport holders, my family and I do not need to have a Visa to enter Hong Kong;

however, since we are staying at the airport in Shanghai for 3 hours before taking our flight to Hong Kong and a 13 hour layover in our return flight to the USA, do we need to apply for a Chinese visa? Thanks!

W, if you travel like this USA-Shanghai-HK-Shanghai-USA, you can enjoy the 24 hour direct transit in Shanghai for both legs of your trip. In this case, no entry permit is needed.
