what type of application for China

Is it better to apply for 2 year visa with multiple entry since the application fee is the same? Does the application processing takes longer?

Frank, as far as I know, USA passport holders can apply for the 10-year multiple-entry one and it costs the same as single entry one. It also takes 4 working days to process the application after you submit it.

Thank You Heidi, That's what I thought. My passport expires in 2 years. Is visa transferable to the new passport?

You should be fine even as long as ur Chinese visa is current or not expired it's still vaild.
