For high-speed rail from Shanghai Honqqiao to Hangzhou, should I buy now or at the station?

Ideally, both ways are OK. But in China, especially during summer vacation, you'd better buy it in advnace.

Thanks. I'm going in Sept. and there are 20+ trains a day. Would you just buy a ticket at the station, maybe wait 30 minutes if one train is full? If I buy in advance, do I print the ticket or use an image on my cell phone like on an airplane?

Personally speaking, I think it should be OK if you are not on a tight schedule. If you book online in advance, you need to print out the paper ticket at the railway station first for boarding.
