Where are you getting your travel times? When I use Google, the times are much longer.
I just Googled, Changling-to-Sacred Way (Nanxin Village Station) takes 55 minutes. From my Holiday Inn Express Temple of Heaven to the Changping Ming Tombs Metro Station, Google says 4 hours. This seems too long for both. Are the times off from Google? Is there another journey (travel) planner I can use that is more accurate?

I want to visit Changling, Dingling, and the stone statues on the Sacred Way. I just want to get this done in 9 hours or less. The travel times seem very long according to Google.

From the Sacred Way (Nanxin Village Bus Station), what is the best route to get back to Tiananmen?

Dear Edward, the duration on google is not accurate. One of my friends took the bus to Dingling last month. It took about 1.5 hours from Deshengmen to Dingling without traffic jam. Then, you can take bus line 314 to Changling. Afterwards, take bus line 314 to Changping Huzhuang Station, and you can see the Sacred Way.

After that, take bus line 872 from Nanxin Village Station to Deshengmen. Change to bus line 5 to West Gate of Zhongshan Park, and you can see Tiananmen Square.

What times do the 3 last 872 buses leave from Nanxin Village to Deshengmen?

Bus line 872 operates until 19:00, and the frequency is about 20 minutes. So the last three buses depart at around 18:20, 18:40, and 19:00. Good luck!
