About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

One day in Shanghai entry and exit by sea.

Cruise starts from Tokyo with one day in Shanghai, cruise ends in Hong Kong. Entry to and exit from Shanghai is by sea. Does the 144 hrs free transit apply?

Sandy, if so, I’m afraid you cannot use the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai. You’d better contact with the cruise company and confirm that.

Because you will enter and exit by the same cruise ship, you may be required by the cruise ship to apply for a normal visa to enter PRC. Otherwise, you may be refused to board the ship.
