About:China Transit Visa

Malaysian passport holder with U.S. green card

Hi, I have a ticket that transits in Shanghai for less than 24 hours before departing for Tokyo. Do I need a Chinese visa?

What if I choose to stay in Shanghai for less than 48 hours, instead of transiting/flying to Tokyo, I bought another 1-way ticket to Kuala Lumpur, what kind of entry permit do I need?

Thanks for your help.

Patricia, you don't need it if the stay in Shanghai is less than 24 hours. IF you want to stay in Shanghai for less than 48 hours and don't fly to Tokyo, you need to apply for an L type and enter as a tourist.

Thanks, Sandy! How about leaving for Kuala Lumpur with a different ticket instead of Tokyo as a transit in less than 24 hours?
