Citytrip: weekend in Shanghai - visa required?

I would like to visit Shanghai for a weekend (less than 72 hours) flying from- and back - to the same airport. Do I require a visa or can I make use of the 72-hour free transit? Thanks a lot!

Chris, if you fly from an airport to Shanghai and then fly back to the same airport without any stopover in between, I'm afraid you don't qualify for the free transit policy. If you want to use the 144-hour free transit policy, you should fly from a country to Shanghai and back to a third country before returning to the country you arrive from.
