multi city trip

I am traveling from Los Angeles > Shanghai 4 or 5 days >Taipei 4 or 5 days> to Los Angeles. Does this apply? if so, would it best to reverse the route?

You can do it like this, or reverse it, or LAX-PVG-TPE-PVG-LAX and use it twice.

What if i have a layover in taipei 4 hours from lax to Shanghai? Will it work if i do nonstop from lax to Taipei to shanghai to lax? Thanks
