How to request airline to apply 72hr TWOV

How , when and where to request the airline to apply 72hr TWOV?
Will they issue me a paper to show the approval ?

When you board the plane, you should inform the airline that you plan to use the 72 hour free transit in PRC and then your request will be declared to the airport immigration. After arrival, you just need to apply for it at the transit counter. After your request is approved, you will get a stay permit stamp on your passport.
