About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Travelling Standby

I am planning on travelling Amsterdam - Shanghai and 5 days later Shanghai - Tokyo, but I am travelling Standby, does this affect the 144-hours visa-free policy?

Niek, it will affect the 144 hour free transit. Usually, if you want to use the free transit, you need to provide the confirmed air tickets, but if you travel standby, I’m afraid you cannot provide the confirmed tickets. In this case, you may not be able to use the free transit in Shanghai.
