About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

72 hour visa-free transit for cruise ships

Hi, I'm Australian flying into Shanghai 11am on the 5th and plan to visit the city for 2 nights, then depart from Baoshan cruise ship port 5pm on the 7th bound for Singapore via Japan being the 1st country of call. In total 54hrs in Shanghai. With regards to the 72hr visa-free transit rule, do you know this is allowed when flying into Shanghai and departing Shanghai from a ship-port, not the same airport?

Hi Wayne, with regard to 72-hour free transit rule, it's not allowed to fly into Shanghai and departing by a ship. However, as Shanghai has already carried out the 144-hour free transit policy, you can fly in and leave by ship. So you are still eligible for the free transit policy.
