Transit Guangzhou and use the 144 hours in Shanghai

Hi we were wanting to travel-PHUKET-GUANGZHOU (SHORT TRANSIT)-SH 3 DAYS-GUANGZHOU (SHORT TRANSIT) CHRISTCHURCH.
It appears that this itinerary will breach the rules of the 72 hour and 144 hour visa's in SH.
So to get around that problem could we instead do PHUKET-SH-3 DAYS--SEOUL (HALF A DAY TRANSIT) SEOUL-GUANGZHOU-CHRISTCHURCH?
Thank you for your help!!

Hello, your plan with Seoul transit is doable, which will enable you to enjoy the 72h & 144h visa-free transit in the two cities. Do ensure that you hold through tickets instead of separte ones. Before landing, you need to fill in the "embarkation/disembarkation card". Then apply for a transit permit from the immigration counter for leaving the airport. That will be easy enough. Don't worry!
