About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do I qualify for 144 chinese visa if I am going on a cruise

I am a uk resident and have a flight from France to Shanghai I plan to stay for 4 days then on a cruise that leaves from shanghai the fist stop is Japan then departing the ship at Singapore and have a flight to France before my flight to the uk do I qualify for the 144 free transit. I read that I need to advise my carrier I plan to do this is this my flight carrier or ship carrier.
