Can I extend my visa for some few days without my passport?

I am currently living in Chengdu and i have a student X type which expires on July 15th. I need to stay till the end of the month to acquire another entry permit to different country. That country's embassy has my passport now. Can I extend my X type for some few days without my passport?

Ama, I’m afraid you cannot extend it without the passport. If you have a copy of your passport, it might help. You are advised to go to the local PSB to confirm that and see if there is any other way you can stay till the end of the month.
