"An onward ticket with confirmed seat number are needed"

When it says "An onward ticket with confirmed seat number are needed", is an E-ticket form a website where i bought the ticket also OK to apply for a 72-hours transit visa at a Chinese airport at arrival.

It is not possible to have a airplane ticket with a confirmed seat number 72hours before boarding.

If i'm at a Chinese airport and i have the print out of a bought ticket with flight nr. to a third country than where i came from, do i also receive a 72-hours free transit?
Thank you.

Valerian, an E-ticket can be used to apply for the 72 hour free transit.
If your ticket shows that you will go to a third country rather than the one you come from, you can apply for the 72 hour free transit.

Even if the E-ticket doesn't show the seat number?

Yes, as long as the ticket is a confirmed one, you can use it even if it does not have a seat number.
