Multiple entries with X2?

Hello! I will study in Guangzhou this fall semester and will apply for a X2 type. My plan is to spend some weekends in Hong Kong and Macau and maybe do some travel to nearby countries. Is this impossible considering the visa or can I apply for multiple entries while in China?

Linn, usually, the X2 type just has single entry, so I’m not sure if you can get multiple entries. Or you can apply for a multiple-entry L type first to travel around, and then change the tourist L type to student X2 type before your study starts.
