About:China Visa Fees

I have a Swiss Passport, born in Switzerland

My criminal record is clean. I'm 65 years old, male.
I'm living in Thailand on a retirement visa. I would like to move to China.
I have a friend from Italy living in China with family and business, otherwise I have no connection to China.
I have an international healthcare insurance.
I have a masters degree from the university of California, Santa Barbara in the department of Religious Studies.
I speak English, Spanish, German but no Chinese.
Is it possible for me to get a Visa without working in China?
Thank you for your support. Kind regards

Silencio, I’m afraid you can only apply for a tourist L type to enter PRC. If so, you cannot get the residence permit in PRC, so you cannot live in PRC for a long time.
