Tourist visa + f visa

Hi. I am going to china (from Spain) 31.07 and be there until 31.10. During my stay I will be host at the university as a resarcher. It is closed in august so first i will be just a tourist. The university doesnt want to give my visa f papers for august since its closed. Can i go to Shanghai with tourist visa diring august and when the univesity in shanghai gives me papers, apply for f visa withous leaving china? Thanks

Daria, you can enter PRC with a tourist L type and then try to convert L type to F type at the exit and entry administration of the local PSB after you get the relevant papers.
