About:FAQ of Chinese Visa Application

British National living in South Korea

I am a British national living in South Korea and plan to visit Shanghai for 3 days later this month. My Alien Registration Card runs out in November. Can I still get a visa? Thank You

If you don't return to South Korea, you can still get it. However, in this case, you may also be eligible for the 144-hour free transit policy in Shanghai. If you are eligible, the entry permit is not required.

Rebecca, thank you for your reply. I will be returning to Korea after. It is basically a 3 day vacation. My boss said it would be easy, but the 6 month validity on my alien registration card could be a problem from what I have read.

The six-month remaining validity of your ARC card is not mandatory now. It's possible that you can get the entry permit. Or you can fly from SK to Hong Kong, then fly to Shanghai and back to SK. In this way, you can use the 144 hour free transit.
