About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Im travelling from Australia to México, making two stops in china. Shanghai then Shenzhen

Not more than 24 hours in china.. Do i need a visa ???

As the stopovers do not add up to more than 24 hours, you don't need a transit permit.
