About:Ming Tombs

Visited Ming Tombs in 1985 in Peking. From what I am reading about these tombs, it does not fit.

I remember walking down a hill with grey-white stone steps - down and down and down - quite an exercise to be able to enter a chamber. At end, there were tall wooden boxes in a room - is this the the tomb? I was disappointed! Engraved tombs lay on flat ground; the guide explaining that folks were short statured, hence small tombs. Stones in shape of a coffin. Is this the location described as Dingling or that of Youngle, the Emperor?

Hi, Dear! The mausoleum of Emperor Yongle is Changling Tomb, whose underground part is not open yet. So, the one you visited may probably be Dingling Tomb, the mausoleum of Emperor Wanli.
