Re-Entry Visa only to fly home?

Hi. I'm flying into Beijing for less than 72 hours, so I don't need an entry permit. However, I will be re-entering PRC for the sole propose of flying home (USA) (4 days later). I will not leave the airport, and the tickets in/out of the country are under 2 different reservations. Do I need to obtain a Multiple Entry permit?

Kelsey, if your total layover time at the airport is less than 24 hours, you can enjoy the 24 hour direct transit when you return. In this case, you don’t need to apply for the entry permit.
