About:China Customs Declaration

I'm travelling via train to Beijing then to Melb 2 days later after completing a trip to mongolia.

I will have camera equipment inc multiple bodies, lenses and small lights etc. Do I simply fill out a declaration form on the way in and then declare it on the way out? The other countries I am visiting require Carnets but China does not recognise this?

If they are for self-use, you don't need to declare it on the way in or out. But if you bought these stuff in CN, you need to declare them and pay the tax when you enter Australia.

Thanks. Do I need to provide proof I have not purchased it outside AU?

Generally, if they are not packaged and have signs of being used, they can be counted as self-use stuff.
