About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Flying Melb-shanghai via Hong Kong visa free?

Flying to shanghai on CX (so change planes in Hong Kong)
Staying 4 days
Then flying to Hong Kong and staying 3 days before returning to Melbourne
Is this eligible for the 144 hour free entry? Or do I need a China entry permit?

Barbie, no, it is not eligible for the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai if you travel like MEL-HK-Shanghai-HK-MEL. You need to apply for a tourist L type for that in this case.
Or you can travel like MEL-HK-Shanghai- MEL, and in this way, you will be eligible for the 144 hour free transit.
