About:Chinese Consulate in Manchester

Confirmation of Degree Certificate

Morning, my son has a work permit and is working in China, it runs out at the end of June and he is going back to teach in the same uni in August so needs to renew his permit. They are not able to renew it in China before he leaves for Australia (holiday) in two weeks so they said to re apply for a new one but said he now (new rules) needs to get his Degree Certificate confirmed as genuine somewhere in UK (certificate is in China!) but haven't told him where and are unable to do so. Has anyone any idea please?
Many thanks
Anne

Anne, he needs to attest his degree at the consulate general of PRC. He can post the degree to you and then you can do it for him.
But you should first get the degree notarized by the notary public and ministry of foreign affairs of UK, and then get it attested by the consulate general of PRC.

Does it need to be a notary public? On the FCO website the information says it has to be signed by a notary public or a solicitor.
