About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

do i need a visa or can i use the 144hour transit ?

I have polish passport but I'm an uk resident I am flying to Shanghai for 4 days visit

After 4-day stay in Shanghai, if you will fly to a third country or region instead of the last one you departed, you can enjoy the 144 hour free transit there.
But if you will fly back to the country you fly in, the 144 hour free transit is not applicable to your situation and a tourist L type is needed.
