Work Permit Cancellation

Hi,

I will leave my current employer and start with a new school In China. My current work/ residence permit in my passport will not expire until after another two months. However, I need to leave the school premises within nine days. That means I only have just over a week to find out what needs to be done with my current work/residence permit.

Is it absolutely necessary to get the work permit cancelled with my current school in my current city, or can I simply take my passport as it is, with an uncancelled work/residence permit to my new employer and city? Would the second action make it harder or even impossible to get a new work/ residence permit with my new employer?

Gary, you have to cancel your current work permit in current city, and then your new employer can get you a new work permit. But you don’t need to cancel your residence permit.
You should go to the local PSB and get the emigration proof of your residence permit. After you go to the new city, you can apply for the new residence permit.

Thanks a lot for your answer, Robin.

I don't understand this sentence, though: "You should go to the local PSB and get the emigration proof of your residence permit".

What does it mean and is it necessary?

Much appreciated
