Indian passport holder from NZ

Hi, I am transiting China from Auckland to New Delhi. Do I need a transit visa? If I have to go out of the airport and use my transit time to visit Shanghai, do I need a visa? Thanks.

If your total transit time is not more than 24 hours, you don't need the transit permit, and you can apply for temporary stay permit at the airport to leave and visit the city.
