Isabel, as you are now not in your country, you can appoint someone else or an agent to do this for you.

First, please make sure that your residence address in Ecuador is within the consular district of the embassy. If not, you should go to the consulate general in Guayaquil instead.
Then, have your degree certificate notarized by a notary public first.
Next, have the certificate attested by the Foreign Affairs Ministry of your country.
Last, go to the Chinese embassy or consulate to authenticate this document.

Ok. This is Isabel writing to say thank you for your reply. I am thinking of traveling to do this myself while visiting friends and family. As I understand you need to go to the Senecyt office, get the certificate, and then notarize that certificate?, and then go to the Cancilleria and asked them to sign this paper, and then go to the Embassy in QUito? I cannot go to Guayaquil according to the region I am from.
I hope you can answer this reply if you have time later just to make sure I got this right. Thank you very much!! :)
