Work Visa Requirements for Teachers

Has it gotten more difficult to get a Chinese work visa for teachers? Some schools say you have to return to your home country. Some say you can only apply in a country where you have a residence permit. Some say it's okay to apply at some embassies. Some schools require the embassy to notarize your degree. It seems like a big mess right now. No two schools have the same requirements.

Lee, based on what I know, it has got more difficult to get Z type as a foreign teacher. The regulations in different cities are different, so all the answers you mentioned are possible to occur. You need to notarize you degree and have it authenticated by the PRC embassy. As for whether you can apply within PRC, it's hard to say.
