About:China Visa Entries / Validity / Duration of Stay

"...just go through the controls..."

Does anyone know what this means when the say, "An often asked question is how long you must be out of China – there is no minimum, you can just go through the controls and turn round and come back in again". What does Controls mean? Thank you in advance.

Dear Gary, the controls refer to the immigration inspection at the border.
