About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Can I get a transit visa from the embassy in DC or do I have to wait until I get to Shanghai?

We're booked on China Eastern from Osaka on July 14 with departure to Singapore on July 17.

Marc, you don't need to get it from the embasy and neither can you do that. Before arriving in Shanghai, you just need to tell the airline staff and then apply for it on the spot after your arrival.
