Need help planing our trip to Mt Hua

My husband and I will be staying in Xian early june for a day and half. Then we are planing to climb Mt Hua. How would the weather affect the climb? I see a lot of reviews about night climbing...will it be scary? Should we leave Xian late afternoon, find a place to stay at Hua Villiage, and get up in the middle of the night? Will you help me a little bit with the finalization of my itinerary? Thanks!

It is not suggested that you climb the mountain on the rainy day as the road is slippery and the scenery is poor. It is true that some people climb Mt. Hua in the middle of the night. However, for safety reason, I suggest you climb the mountain in the daytime if your time is ample. You can take cable car for one way during the trip.

My plan is to leave Xi'an 8 in the morning. So maybe have lunch at the village. We will start climbing after lunch. Then we will stay over the top of the mountain and next morning, we can see the sunrise on the East peak. Does that sound like a plan? Is it easy to find place to stay on top of the mountain?

Your plan is feasible. It takes around 6 hours to climb from the foot of the mountain to the top. Stay overnight and see the sunrise on the East Peak. Then walk or take cable car down the mountain. As for the accommodation, you are suggested to book it in advance, especially on weekends or on holidays. Have fun!

Any place you recommend staying on top of the mountain?

As you want to see the sunrise, I suggest you stay at East Peak. Hotels are available, but you should not expect too much because of the poor hotel condition. If you climb Mt. Hua during the Dragon Boat Festival (Jun 09 to 11), I suggest you book the hotel in advance.
