Connecting Flight in China

Do I need a visa if my connecting flight is in PRC? I'm an American citizen traveling from Korea to the United States, but my connecting flight is in China.

Sam, in some cities of China, you can enjoy the 24/72/144 hour free transit policy, so it's posible that you don't need the transit permit. Just make sure that your route is eligible for the free transit scheme.
