About:China Visa Exemption

Does a cruise ship stop at Shanghai for 16 hours require a visa for a passenger to visit City?

On October 23, 2016, our cruise ship arrives at Shanghai 6:00 am and departs 10:00 pm. Do passengers need an entry permit to visit the city for less than 24-hours or can we obtain a Temporary Entry Permit instead of an entry permit?

Dennis, after 16-hour stop in Shanghai, if you will go to a third country or region rather than the one you come from, you can enjoy the 24 hour direct transit. In this way, no entry permit is needed. You just need to apply for a temporary stay permit at the immigration inspection office and then you can visit the city.
