About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Qualified Countries

I am U.S. citizen flying from Bangkok to Shanghai to US. Thailand is not on the list of qualified countries, but it appears the list applies to citizens of those countries, and not to countries that one is flying from. Just want to make sure this is correct.

Dear, the aforesaid qualified countries refer to those countries which are eligible for the 72 hour free transit because you are US citizen, you can apply for the 72 hour free transit; and your travel route Bangkok-Shanghai-US meets the requirement of the 72 hour policy. So if you can make sure that your layover time in Shanghai is less than 72 hours, you can enjoy the free transit there.
