About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

72hr visa for Beijing

I am an U.S. citizen flying into Beijing from Chicago, then planning on leaving to Thailand within 72 hours.

American Airlines told me that I needed an entry permit to board, but this tells me to simply "inform the airline at check in".

Is it as simple as waiting until I show up at the airport???

Thank you guys for your help

Grayson, according to what you said, if you don't stop in a China city other than Beijing, you can enjoy the 72 hour free transit in Beijing, so no entry permit is needed. You need to inform the airline when you board the plane in USA. Besides, just take your passport, the air tickets and valid entry permit to Thailand with you.
