About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

6 months on passport confusing

Hello,
I understand that my passport needs to have a minimum of 6 months prior to expiration to apply for a visa to enter China. ... Got it. ... My question is: We are in the month of May 2016. My passport expires March of 2017. So far so good regarding applying. BUT! ... I am entering PRC in September of 2016, leaving EXACTLY 6-months remaining on my passport before it expires. ... Am I okay or, do I need to first RENEW my passport?
Thank you
PS - The drop down menu is only giving me the option of, "72-hour free Transit". My question is not about that. Thanks again

Antonio, usually, the validity of an entry permit is 3 months. So you can apply for it in July or August when the validity of your passport is more than 6 months. In September, you can use the entry permit to enter PRC and at that time, as long as your passport is valid, you can enter PRC. So, you don’t need to renew your passport.
