Can I use visa issued under maiden name (on old passport) with new passport has new married name?

I had a work Z type issued in Dec. 2015, valid for 10 years. Earlier this year, I changed my name (both first and last name) and applied for a new passport under my new name. I was told by a CBITvisas agent that I needed to re-apply for a new entry permit under my new name, so I did. Well today, I'm told by another agent (from CBITvisas) that I don't need to re-apply, but just "rubber band the old and new passport together, and they'll get me into PRC". Can someone please confirm which is true? Thank you.

Old name: First name, Middle, Last name
New name: New first name, old first old last, new last name

Dear, because you names on the two passports are different, you need to re-apply for a new entry permit on your new passport.
