72 hour free transit in chengdu

I have a flight booked from London -> Bangkok, then Chengdu (China) -> London. I am intending to book a flight from Bangkok to Chengdu, and utilize the 72 hour transit visa. Does this work?

Hi Henry! This will work for your route if you fly from Bangkok to Chengdu and then onward to London. Remember you can't stop in any other mainland China cities to ensure you can use this free transit policy.
