About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

We are transiting in Beijing for 11 hours and would like to leave the airport

We will be transiting in Beijing for 11 hours from Rome to Melbourne. I believe this is a direct transit within 24 hours but we would like to leave the airport and visit Beijing during this time. Is there a procedure for us to leave the airport?

You can ask for a temporary entry permit at the immigration to leave the airport.
