About:Shanghai Transportation

I am staying at Renaissance Shanghai Yu Garden and taking train to Beijing south at 10am in July.

Can you please tell me the best way to get to the station from my hotel?
Metro line 10 seems the closest to my hotel but on the map the line branches into two sections and I don't want to get on the wrong line.
Also what time would you say I should leave the hotel to get there in time to pick up my tickets and board the train and allowing for metro travel time?
As there are three of us travelling, would a taxi from the hotel to the station be a better idea?

Yes, Yuyuan Garden Station of Metro Line 10 is the nearest metro station from your hotel. There are clear English guidng signs inside the stations, so you won't get onto the wrong line. Don't worry!
From your hotel to Hongqiao Railway Station: you may take metro line 10 from Yuyuan Station to Hongqiao Railway Station directly. The trip takes about 35 minutes, and the fare is CNY 5 per person. You may start off from the hotel at around 8:00.
Also, you can take a taxi. The fare is around CNY 70, and the duration is about 30 to 40 minutes in the morning peak hours.

Whichever mode of transport you will use, you need to reach the railway station about 1 hour in advance to collect the tickets and board the train. I hope that my advice can help you. Have a nice trip!
