Cruise ship travel

Our Celebrity ship will be in Shanghai 1 day and Hong Kong 2 days. Will we need visas to leave the ship?

Gale, it's certain that you don't need the entry permit for Hong Kong. For the stay in Shanghai, if you are in a transit, it's possible that you are eligible for the 144h free transit scheme there.
